"My grandmother taught me how to knit when I was seven years old. I started with scarves and progressed to slippers and hats and mittens and finally to patterned ski sweaters and fisherman knit sweaters. I like the creative nature of it: creating something with my hands. And I liked the end result too: something unique and handmade for me to wear or to give away as a special gift. I've recently taken it up again. I now find knitting to be rewarding on a different level. It's very calming in this otherwise faster-than-a-speeding-bullet pace of life. And there are so many beautiful yarns available now, from silks to wool/mohair blends and more. It's just plain fun to work with them all."

Alicia Shea is the creative force behind orange moon creations. She is a life-long New Englander who now lives and knits in Belmont, Massachusetts. She has been knitting and sewing since she was seven years old, and was making and selling custom canvas tote bags before her career in the software industry took off. She has now left the world of high tech behind her (except for developing this web site!) and is comfortable with her new "soft tech" job.

Alicia believes that with the current resurgence of interest in knitting, hand knit products will gain a new interest and appreciation, especially among younger women who are discovering this wonderful craft for the first time. With the eoBag, musicMitts and weddingMitts, Alicia is offering a bit of elegance and style with practical functionality - not unlike the woman herself.
